Why Summer Isn't for Writing

I am a writer. In the past year, I've signed eight contracts, written two short stories, a novella, and six novels. And now that I'm on summer holidays, I'd thought to bang out another manuscript. But here I am two weeks in, and I've not written a word. I haven't written a thing ...

... because of water parks.

... because there are mudholes to wallow in.

...because there are mountains to climb.

... because friends have neat things on laptops to show me.

... because of fireworks.

... because friends have important things to say.

... because it's too damn hot.

... because of the LEGO store.

... because there are rivers to float down.

... because there are hills to tumble down.

...because there are Buddahs to see.

... because there are trains to ride and places to go.

... because sometimes you just wanna dance.

... because that ice cream won't eat itself.

... because -- oh, did I already mention mudholes?

... because of chatting and holding hands while floating down the river.

... because there are pictures to draw.

... because there's sunshine and water.

... because I am next to the most wonderful, most beautiful woman who has ever lived.

  6. Okay, so as it turns out, my life sucks and I'd like to trade it in for one like yours! If I'm not getting anything accomplished, reasons like these make it all worthwhile!
